Arithmetic Training is a next-generation educational app designed for the Meta Quest platform, offering a fully immersive and intuitive experience for learning and practicing abacus-based arithmetic. Built around traditional Japanese soroban methods, the app blends cultural heritage with cutting-edge virtual and mixed reality technology.
Using hand tracking, users can operate the virtual abacus with natural finger movements—no controllers required. The digital beads respond precisely to gestures, making interactions feel authentic and seamless.
Arithmetic Training offers two primary modes:
Tutorial Mode: This mode is perfect for beginners and those new to the abacus. Through step-by-step instruction, users learn the fundamentals of soroban usage, including how to understand the structure of the abacus, and how to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Visual guidance and interactive feedback help learners build a strong foundation at their own pace.
Challenge Mode: In this mode, users practice reading and placing numbers on the abacus, as well as solving calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Users can select both the difficulty level and the number of problems for each session, allowing for personalized and flexible practice. Unlike traditional training apps, focusing instead on stress-free repetition and mastery.
